I have to admit, I’m completely OCD when it comes to planning trips. I bought a few different books for my last trip to make sure I knew everything there was to know about Disney World. As it has been a few years, I felt I needed to refresh my knowledge. I bought the two best guide books from the last time around plus this new one I found. Here’s what I discovered.

The Unofficial Guide is huge, but much of the “information” in it really isn’t very helpful. I had to make it through a lot of opinion and extraneous stuff to get to the meat of it. I also really did not appreciate the constant selling of their other subscription service. The whole point of buying a book is to be able to plan on your own. If you’re not willing to put all the information into the book, it feels like a rip off.

Birnbaum is nice because it actually puts everything in a positive light. I love the layout and pictures. There’s not a lot of detail, though, and you don’t find any great secrets in it. (It’s the “official” guide, so I assume Disney keeps a close eye on what they put in there.)

The VIP Tour Book Guide was by far the best. There are tons of “Insider’s Tips” that actually seem like they came from people who have been to the parks many times. The huge section on freebies at Walt Disney World was a real eye opener. I’m on a budget and plan to utilize that section to its fullest.

I also know precisely (to the minute) when to book FastPass+ and meal reservations to get exactly what I want.

Probably my favorite thing about this guide is that the information is updated constantly throughout the year, so I know I’m not reading outdated information! (That was a real problem during my last family vacation.)

No hesitation suggesting the VIP Tour Book Guide to anyone planning a trip to Walt Disney World. For me, it has all the information I need!

I am so happy I bought this book. We’ve been to WDW before, but it’s been years. I wanted something to give me the most up-to-date information about reserving meals and (most importantly) Fastpasses. This guide could not have been more informative! It even has a step-by-step on reserving ride times for those of us who aren’t overly tech savvy. I didn’t realize the book was only electronic until I bought it, and it’s a brilliant concept. When they updated the guide, I got the updates loaded directly to my Kindle. There’s no other book that does that! If you want an incredibly informative guide book, this is the one for you.

I got this book for my family’s first trip to Disney World. It is full of information for the parks and hotels, plus all the other stuff to do there. We had no idea there were so many non-park things at Disney. The Insider’s Tips were the best. I felt like I had an expert with me through our whole vacation!

I wish I had started reading this information earlier! They suggest you start planning 7 months out, and they are so right!

There were restaurants we couldn’t get into, and we probably would have decided to stay at a different Disney hotel had started planning earlier.

(The book gives great details about which hotels are in the best locations, depending on what you plan to do during your trip.

We got great deals on tickets and were able to get every ride reserved that we wanted thanks to the great FastPass+ instructions.

I love planning vacations! You get all that excitement building up to the trip. This book was perfect to get my husband and kids enthusiastic about helping me plan. There’s a lot of information in there to help parents and kids prepare for everything from meeting the characters to which rides to try first for nervous children. We even took the advice to go to the craft store and make our own vacation t-shirts. Just amazing stuff, not to mention all the great info about the parks and hotels. I’ll never buy another tour guide!

This guide book is great. I found all the information I needed very easily, plus there is a lot more I didn’t realize I wanted to know. We used it to figure out how many days we needed at the parks, along with what ticket options to select.

We have an odd number of people in our family, and it even helped us figure out the best value for our hotel. It was so worth the money!

I almost never give reviews, but this is one book people need to know about. This will be our second trip to WDW. The first one was full of little frustrations, so I decided to get smart and buy a guidebook this time. It literally covered every single issue we had, plus gave great insights I never would have known about! I just about died laughing when the book described “attraction commandos.” That is my husband to a T! With this guide, I can keep him running from ride to ride with all of our great Fastpasses I booked.
